Author: Jeannie Cho Lee

Jeannie’s second book,Mastering Wine for the Asian Palate, was successfully launched in Bordeaux on 16th June at CIVB Wine Bar at Bordeaux City Centre. Organized by Le Conseil Interprofessionel du Vin de Bordeaux, the event brought around 100 participants from trade and media from Bordeaux and beyond together. Chef Tommy Shan from “Au Bonheur du Palais” prepared five delectable Asian-style canapes such as barbecue pork in Hoi Sin sauce, chicken and mushroom in oyster sauce, shrimps in sweet and sour sauce for the evening. These gourmet bites paired exceptionally well with an array of 35 wines from the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.

Mastering Wine for the Asian Palateis an insightful and informative book that broadens the wine lexicon by adding Asian terms to the language of wine. The book also follows the journey of wine from the vineyard to the glass. The seven chapters cover everything from the grape’s growing conditions and winemaking to wine tasting and the language of wine.

Rather than introducing an overwhelming range of Asian descriptors, Jeannie has carefully selected key ingredients that are widely known and recognised by food lovers throughout East Asia. The Asian descriptors and their photographs are listed side by side with traditional western descriptions for each major grape variety and their styles found around the world.

Mastering Wineis the second book of a two-part offering includingAsian Palate, the author’s award-winning book comprehensively delving into Asian food and wine pairings looking at the regions’ ten culinary capitals.
